For quite some time, I haven’t updated my Tumblr account. Now, I will start to be active again :)

So for my “comeback post”, I’m going to share this photo with you.

Last April 15, 2012, the last day of National Bookstore’s Summer Sale. I grabbed the opportunity to buy a bookset of the Millennium Trilogy. And that was the same day that I hit the “Hundred Mark”.

I’ve been a member of National Bookstore’s Laking National card since last year, January 31, 2011. For LNC holders, every thousand purchase in NBS, the cardholder will get P10 in his/her ePurse. Meaning, for a year and a half, I spent more than P10,000 at National Bookstore alone! Imagine that? P10,000 for just a year and a half! Haha! Anyway, just sharing :)

It was yesterday, January 16, 2012, that we were scheduled to have our retreat at the university’s retreat house located at Baliti, City of San Fernando.

I came to the retreat house yesterday at 7:20AM because our call-time was 7:30AM. Quite early? Yes, I was. I was the second to arrive at the vicinity while the others arrived at around 8AM.

I was bringing my laptop for the purpose of laying out our college publication and to eliminate boredom. But to my surprise and dismay, my luggage was searched and my laptop was confiscated. Apparently, it wasn’t allowed to bring such gadget which we were not informed about. Another dismay was that being early in the vicinity, I was able to roam around and check the rooms and comfort rooms. Obviously, they weren’t maintained properly. Dirty and filthy - those are the words we can associate with them. But enough with the tirades, since this retreat was still worth having.

Our first day was intended for different sessions with our retreat master which was a nun from a nunery in Quezon city. We sang different praises for God like “I Offer My Life” and the likes. We also had a “Pass the Message” activity with a twist wherein our messages were Words of God taken from the Bible. We also celebrated the Eucharist with Father Tim from St. Paul. I even had the chance to lead the Responsorial Psalm. But the best part of the session was when we started to watch a film entitled “The Ultimate Gift”. The film was about a grandson named Jason Stevens and his grandfather, Red stevens. Red is an oil tycoon and his family had every material thing at their grasp which he thought he has to correct, so before he died, he went into the efforts of making tasks for Jason. These tasks were the keys to open the 12 gifts of God and to transform Jason from his happy-go-lucky, naive and friend-of-no-one personality to a well rounded individual who knows how to love.

The movie experience was really good, remove the part wherein a blackout occured because of the rain and every girl in the room shouted at once because they were startled.

Another activity given to us was to draw a roadmap of our lives. Actually, this was quite funny because we were asked to watch an AVP about mothers. It was entitled “Mother’s 8 Lies.” But then, to my surprise (or our surprise, really), we were asked to do another activity entirely unrelated to the motivation given! LOL! Nonetheless, it was still fun and inspiring at the same time since we knew different life stories from our classmates that we didn’t know. Imagine that for almost four years now, we still don’t know everything from one another.

When the night came, we just exhausted all the time chatting, playing Mafia and word Factory and taking pictures until we got tired and went to sleep.

The next morning, we had another session which processed the movie we watched the day before. We had guide questions and we were given an hour to reflect upon the questions and upon the Gospel provided. The reflections were very inspiring and opened my eyes and heart to the word of God. They were indeed soulful.

After which, the culminating part (I should say) of the retreat happened, the sharing of sentiments and thanks to every member of the group. It was a sort of an Open Forum. Everyone was given a chance to say thanks to the ones they owe thanks to, to confront the ones whom they have grudges to bear and to say sorry for those grudges they have caused. I was one of the last persons to say my sentiments and my thanks to all. Maybe I am not the person who could command attention that most were no longer listening, and I also experienced mental lapses on that very moment, so let me restate my messages. I would like to thank my 1-A family who were present there, and even those who were not, since they are still a part the transition stage of my life, from high school to college. I enjoyed your company. Though there were rocky roads we had to take, we were still able to go through them and surpass them. I am very thankful for all of you. To my Blazing Etherons family, I would also like to say my thanks to you. We grew stronger when we became one. As one, we were able to defeat all odds. As a group, we were able to withstand trials and challenges that we thought we could not bear. As the years pass, I hope my battlecry, our battlecry: “Team tested by time, Fire still blazing and prime,” with shine in our hearts and bring the closeness back, the bond that we have as a TEAM. Thank you. For a friend of mine who said sorry, there is nothing to be sorry for. It was my own choice to be there and I don’t blame anyone for that. I will never blame you for that. Thank you for the friendship and I hope nothing will change. For those who expressed their admiration, I sincerely thank you. I felt that I’m liked. And for my other friend, I would say this again, I miss your 2nd Year self. I really miss how you treat your friends during those times. I hope that you will be able to bring that back and eliminate the bad habits most of them told you. well, it’s not just for your own good, it will also benefit many :). Well, all in all, this retreat is still worth it. This is still a memory to keep. Let’s keep the good ones in our hearts and get rid of the bad ones, as the saying goes, “Let bygones be bygones.” Those memories that aren’t needed, get rid of them, and replace them with good memories.
